RISK DIRECTOR, QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Reporting to the Market Chief Medical Officer, the professional we select for this vital role will be responsible for activities associated with patient safety, loss prevention, and risk identification. These include occurrence reporting, data review and reporting, associate/medical staff education and recommendations to management regarding ways to realize optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities include:
Demonstrating our customer service values, which are key in providing quality service.
Encouraging the reporting of occurrences via incident reports, and analyzing related information for potential legal issues, trends, opportunities for improvement, and education.
Providing regular reports to the director of quality and appropriate committees/departments.
Consistently rounding and providing consultation/direction and education to all departments, associates, and medical staff regarding risk management and loss prevention strategies to medical, nursing and ancillary staff, including orientation.
Assisting in the claims identification/management process by initiating and reporting investigation of potentially compensable events.
Managing the discovery process for litigated cases in conjunction with counsel.
Working closely with the quality director and other department principals in resolving patient-related and environmental concerns.
Making recommendations for practices, processes, and systems that enhance patient safety, reduce preventable error and injury, promote improved clinical outcomes, and protect hospital resources.
Participating in the hospital policy-review process by drafting policies and providing recommendations.
Participating in hospital committees and providing a risk-management perspective in the development of patient-centered loss-prevention activities.
Related professional experience in a medical setting.
Extensive knowledge of best practices, including patient safety strategies, best use of resources and customer initiatives.
Excellent coaching/mentoring/teaching abilities.
Conflict-resolution, negotiation, written/verbal communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships throughout the organizational structure.
Ability to effectively analyze problems and resolve them in a manner supportive of organizational policies.
A high degree of motivation and ability to deal with others fairly and effectively.
