The care we provide to children and family is being transformed through the Sala Institute for Child and Family Centered Care. The first of its kind in mission and structure, the Sala Institute is founded on the understanding that when patients, families, and healthcare providers build partnerships in a family-centered culture, the results are improved safety, quality, and outcomes. This model represents a sea change in the care of children and families, integrating a host of pediatric support services, vastly expanding these resources, and using research and education to achieve better outcomes and improve best practices.
With the building of the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and the establishment of the Sala Institute, there has never been a more exciting time to be involved with children’s services.
Reporting to a Senior Director of Children’s Services, the Coordinator is an integral member of the Major Gifts team and is responsible for conducting a full range of development activities that support fundraising plans for the areas covered by the children’s services team, including assistance with initiating and maintaining key donor and prospect relationships; proposal management; fundraising events; and donor and prospect research. The Coordinator will also provide administrative support to members of the team.
Supports the Senior Director and team members in day-to-day tasks and activities, including: returning phone calls; prioritizing and arranging the appointment calendars; coordinating supportive arrangements for meetings and appointments; replying to emails; arranging lunches and small events; composing/editing routine correspondence; handling travel arrangements; prioritizing work and providing project support.
Works closely with the Senior Director, team members, and physicians in the Departments and/or Divisions related to children’s services to assist in the preparation of proposals and reports.
Works with the Senior Director and team members to help coordinate cultivation events and stewardship activities and provide follow up support.
Performs supporting prospect research on donors, prospects and other potential funding sources, utilizing available research tools. Helps to prepare donor briefings.
Assists with prospect management activities, including scanning information and adding tasks and contact reports in the Advance development database.
Develops and manages production of in-house mailings, letters, updates and invitations to prospects and donors.
Coordinates arrangements for on-site visits and tours for individual donors and prospects.
Enlists the Gift Processing team to process and manage individual gifts, pledges and pledge payments.
Responds to queries from individual donors and prospects.
Helps to prepare regular fundraising progress reports.
Attends staff meetings and participates in division-wide planning activities.
Prepares expense reports and coordinates invoices and credit-card receipts for the Sr. Director and other team members.
Runs ad hoc reports from the Advance database, using Crystal reports.
Provides project support for the Director and other members of the team.
Performs other duties as assigned.
To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience required.
Knowledge of fundraising information resources is a plus.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to change priorities in a high volume and fast-paced environment.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of diverse public.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments and meet deadlines.

Development database experience.
Knowledge of Crystal reports is a plus.
