Responsibilities include:

• Manages professional level associates engaged in various levels of programming and data analysis that includes compiling, manipulating, analyzing, and reporting of data.
• Oversee the team that will prepare, verify, and manage research data sets from administrative health insurance claims databases as per provided specifications.  Team responsibilities include
  • Performing ad-hoc queries and providing customized reports based on longitudinal patient databases according to internal and external requests using Teradata, SQL server and sometimes SAS.
  • Working with research staff in order to develop the business logic needed to answer specific research questions
  • Conducting programming and data quality checks
  • Participating in complete project lifecycle:  requirements gathering, programming, testing/troubleshooting, quality assurance, and creation of final deliverables
• Manages, participates and coordinates the development and implementation of new/revised processes and procedures, such as developing new programming standards or guidelines
• Hires, trains, coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports

Qualifications:

This position requires a BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related field, and 5+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of programming languages and statistical software required.

• Demonstrated proficiency in EITHER Teradata, SQL Server, or SAS 9.1. 
• Excellent analytical skills
• Strong data management skills – will be handling large volumes of health plan administrative claims data
• Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Self motivated, with ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to plan, organize, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously and in multidisciplinary teams
• Previous people and project management experience
• Research experience a plus
• Experience with administrative health insurance claims data preferred
