Educates residents, and facilitates individual desires to live well at Salemtowne. Evaluates effectiveness of life enrichment programs/services and adjusts for continued improvement. Collaborates successfully with marketing/sales to promote the holistic wellness culture at Salemtowne to the broader community.
Job Duties: Builds and maintains a strategic vision for evidence-based resident wellness; evolves that vision regularly to meet the needs and expectations of older adults. Uses industry research to support strategic vision. Facilitates the development of holistic life enrichment programs and related goals that respect resident differences, maintain resident dignity and foster resident independence. Supervises life enrichment team members and ensures accountability for meeting established goals. Develops and nurtures collaboration with various personnel/departments such as dining services, therapy, etc. Cultivates and maintains partnerships with the Sticht Center and Winston Salem community resources who can support life enrichment programming. Achieves desired levels of participation in all life enrichment programming. Integrates staff expertise into program planning and holds staff and self accountable for program delivery. Effectively communicates Salemtowne's vision of living well by sharing program outcomes, as well as program changes and updates throughout the community. Actively engages residents in programming and empowers staff to do the same. Creates and implements an approach to capturing useful data related to programs and services; provides monthly reporting regarding attendance and other metrics for all life enrichment programs. Creates and manages a process for connecting with new residents and establishing a baseline wellness/health inventory. Communicates effectively with other departments with relevant matters discovered in the inventory. Tracks inventory data and reports on resident lifestyle improvements and/or declines as appropriate. Participates in Salemtowne's Resident Review Committee. Creates life enrichment budget in collaboration with the team. Monitors expenses against determined budget. Collaborates with marketing to cultivate a wellness brand; communicates frequently to marketing staff on opportunities to tell the story of how prospects can live well at Salemtowne. Demonstrates professional and technical knowledge as well as desire for ongoing learning by attending conferences, maintaining membership in professional association, renewing certification credentials, reading professional publications, and establishing and maintaining professional networks. Supports Salemtowne's mission, vision, and values in the development and execution of an integrated wellness plan for residents.
Bachelors degree in a health-related field such as Health & Wellness, Health Promotion, Gerontology. Recreation Leisure, or related Human Services field. Advanced degree preferred. A minimum of five (5) years' related work experience with program management and older adults, including substantial staff supervision/leadership experience. Current professional certification from a nationally recognized organization in the health/fitness industry (e.g., ACSM/HFS, CHES) preferred. Maintains current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or must obtain within three (3) months from date of hire).
