Responsible for a variety of technical duties necessary to the acquisition of echocardiographic examinations and maintenance of the normal operation of the adult echocardiography laboratory.
Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient
Works under the supervision of the Department Supervisor, Operations Manager, and the Medical and Technical Directors of the Adult Echo Lab.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*1. Performs and processes echocardiographic examinations including two-dimensional, three dimensional, M-mode, Doppler (pulsed, continuous wave, and color), and exercise techniques.
*2. Performs emergency procedures when necessary; transports equipment to patient's bedside when necessary.
*3. Assists with special procedures including transesophageal echocardiography, intraoperative echocardiography, pericardiocentesis, and contrast echocardiography.
4. Analyzes and files echocardiographic data utilizing digital computer analysis systems.
5. Performs a variety of patient transport activities.
6. Assists in developing and maintaining internal training programs and in technical instruction of echocardiographic techniques.
*7. Maintains a current knowledge of echocardiography technology; reviews current literature and engages in an ongoing continuing education program approved by the lab supervisor.
8. Responsible for actively participating in patient safety improvement and management program.
*9. Administers imaging enhancing agents to better optimize the quality of echocardiograms once training is completed and the tech is evaluated by the Diagnostic Cardiology RN. Competency's are to be completed annually for every registered tech.
10. Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational
reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from a formal training program in cardiac ultrasound with at least 6 months echocardiography experience required; or experienced Echo Tech work with at least two years prior experience required.
CCI or RDMS certification or eligibility for certification required.
On the job training may be required for up to six months.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a laboratory environment. Independent travel to other sites throughout the system and surrounding communities may be necessary.
This position requires scheduled weekends, rotating holidays, and rotating on-call. Scheduled hours during weekdays as needed.
Works on call as assigned.
Current PA drivers license required.
