Responsible for accurate and quality document preparation, document scanning, data entry and quality assurance of scanned documents. Performs daily processing following established procedures. Works in a team-based environment under the general direction of the Corporate Imaging Manager.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*1. Receives incoming documents, identifying and organizing documents by type. Distributes incoming documents to appropriate staff and locations. Requires a high degree of accuracy to provide proper processing of 1 million+ pages per month.
*2. Identifies issues with documents, such as missing indexing elements, coversheets, and/or DIMS case sheets. Must be able to identify documents that are sent incorrectly to ensure integrity of documents scanned into Tower and/or Epic.
*3. *Develops a basic understanding of the workflows of documents through the scanning operation to appropriately process incoming DIMS and non-DIMS documents.
*4. Accurately processes both DIMS and non-DIMS batches, ensuring accuracy of 99.9% or higher.
*5. Creates Kofax batches on the fly, must be able to accurately identify over 100 types of documents to determine appropriate batch class and scanner settings to assure proper filing of documents in Tower and/or Epic.
*6. Selects correct/appropriate scanner settings to accurately scan documents 100% of the time, including adjusting Contrast/Brightness/Gamma, selecting appropriate dropout levels, color utilization, etc.
*7. Ensures each document image scanned is of optimal quality, utilizes Virtual Rescan technology to perform image manipulation to obtain best image possible.
*8. Accurately tracks daily prepping/scanning/validation productivity via spreadsheets for statistical reporting.
*9. Consistently meets production rate to department standards, while maintaining accuracy/quality rate of 99.9% or higher.
*10. * Audits Tower and/or Epic for image clarity/quality and accuracy of document scans. Must be able to correctly identify documents that have been scanned/indexed with errors and effectively communicate issues to CI Leads for correction.
*11. Identities and disposes scanned documents following the designated retention period.
*12. Identifies needed maintenance of scanning equipment, performs routine maintenance and alerts CI Leads of needed scanner service.
*13. Maintains discretion in confidential documentation/matters discussed and materials available per HIPAA guidelines.
*14. Contributes to a positive, safe work environment and participates in ongoing financial responsibility, problem solving and process improvement recommendations. Communicates and fosters Geisinger Health System policies, procedures and regulations in assigned area.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates flexibility and ability to shift focus from one type of work to another on a regular basis. Must be able to retain details of scanning processes for over 100 types of documents to accurately process documents per work levels and customer demands.
Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of personal computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrates self-motivation, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrates ability to work in a production environment at a sustained pace to meet production rates while producing quality work.
Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to detect, document and correct quality issues
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior scanning experience preferred.
Prior data entry experience preferred.
Requires up to 6 months on the job to become familiar with policies and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment.
Ability to lift over 30 pounds.
Requires sitting for extended periods of time, repeating the same tasks.
Requires repetitive motion.
