Prepares monthly Accounts Receivable reports for Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Provides support for cost report workpapers for Medicare and Medical Assistance. Provides reports and documentation for other third party payors.
Works under the supervision of the GMC/GBH Manager, Reimbursement and Revenue Reporting.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provides detailed reports and data as directed to the Senior Analysts to calculate monthly third party allowances for month end close. Inputs approved entries into Lawson timely. - Prepares various monthly Accounts Receivable calculations and reports for GMC and GBH. Includes Days in A/R, Average Daily Revenue, Controller’s Aging, Net A/R by Payor, and Siemens to Lawson A/R tie-out. - Responsible for the coordination, completion, and distribution of third party rate tables to Decision Support System (DSS), Siemens (SMS), and MedAssets. Audits and approves test and production rate tables from Siemens. - Completes assigned workpapers for the Medicare and Medical Assistance cost report. Inputs cost report data into respective payor specific software. - Responsible for auditing Medicare Bad Debt packets prepared by Revenue Management. Communicates findings to Senior Financial Analyst. Remains up-to-date on changes to Medicare Bad Debt documentation. - Completes routing monthly, quarterly, and annual DSS audits. Review audit results with Senior Financial Analyst. - Prepares monthly off-line beds report for use in the monthly statistics and the annual Medicare and Medical Assistance cost reports. - Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of other reimbursement related software; i.e., Win-Lash (Medicare cost reporting software), and PACRS (Medical Assistance cost reporting software). - Responsible for in-depth understanding of SMS patient accounting system, Tower, Lawson, and DSS. - Tracks and summarizes transplant time studies for the Medicare cost report. Provides periodic update of delinquent time studies to Senior Analyst. - Provides support to the Senior Financial Analysts and Managers with updating schedules as needed throughout the year. - Serves as primary back-up to senior clerk for check deposit process. - Maintains up to date PC skills with emphasis on Excel v-lookup and pivot table functions, and demonstrates the ability to apply advanced PC skills to improve reporting.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: - Demonstrates ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities and time constraints. - Demonstrates well-developed PC skills using all standard GHS software. Experience in Excel and Monarch (DataWatch Modeler) required. - Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality. - Demonstrates ability to be a self-starter and work well within a dynamic team atmosphere. - Demonstrates time management skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration required.
OR
- Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required. Minimum of two years of accounting or finance experience required.
OR
- In lieu of degree, minimum of five years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance may be considered.
