JOB TITLE: Laboratory Information System Specialist - Pre-Analytics and Outreach LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center or Geisinger South Wilkes Barre DEPARTMENT: Laboratory Medicine WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time (Temporary 18-24 Months)
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing tasks related to project completion including analysis, training, testing, documentation, problem resolution and implementation for laboratory information systems as a subject matter expert in assigned laboratory area. Provides input and assists in developing project plans.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System (GHS) in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Works under the administrative supervision of the Lab IT Program Director and area’s supervisor or designates.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Must possess or develop a working knowledge of laboratory information system functionality and its application at various laboratory sites throughout the Geisinger Health System. Must possess or develop knowledge of system maintenance for all laboratory information system modules.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Science OR certification as a MT AND 2 years laboratory experience OR minimum of 8 years laboratory experience required.
Five years of experience working with a laboratory information system is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in an office and lab environment.
