Performs and is responsible for the development and maintenance of rdbms platforms and database objects and with data access control supporting OLTP or analytic software applications on at least one major rdbms platform. Is responsible for database performance monitoring and tuning activities.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates working knowledge of at least one major rdbms technology (excluding Access).
Demonstrates the ability to provide database production support of critical systems including backup and recovery, database object creation and administration, performance tuning of queries and data structures.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills along with good administrative and facilitation skills. Must be able to communicate difficult/sensitive information in a diplomatic and tactful way.
Demonstrates solid knowledge of at least one business area or system/rdbms.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum eight years’ experience with networking and I.S. infrastructure which three of those years must be database administration.
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required. Minimum eleven years’ experience with networking and I.S. infrastructure which six of those years must be database administration.
In lieu of Degree, minimum of fourteen year’s IT experience with six years’ experience performing database administration-related activities is required.
Exposure to the full life-cycle of analytic or operational data management development experience required.
Database-related certifications and training highly desired, whether vendor-specific or nationally recognized programs such as Oracle OCP, Microsoft MCDBA or Teradata v12 or higher.
Experience in health care or health payer systems is preferred.
If suitably experienced candidate cannot be found, applicants who meet the basic qualifications but possess fewer years of experience will be considered for hire at a lower level. Salary would commensurate with experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment with occasional travel to different buildings. Mostly sedentary work interacting with computers and people. Requires ability to perform visual inspection and lifting less than 10 pounds.
