Collaborates with individuals, departments and task forces to research, evaluate, and recommend computer systems. Installs, implements and maintains selected hardware and software systems on and off campus. Performs basic networking maintenance and assists Network and Systems Administrators as needed. Calculates budget requirement for computer systems maintenance and expansion. Assist with Security assessments and compliance. Completes other assignments based on ability or need. Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Provides an intermediary step to the System and Network Administrator position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors the facility's computer systems to ensure the equipment is functioning properly.
Demonstrates knowledge of current software systems, operation procedures and technological developments.
Assists in planning and installing the hardware, software and peripherals for the facility's network.
Assists in maintaining, debugging, and changes in application and system software.
Provides assistance and training for all system users.
Assists with the maintenance of printers and peripherals connected to the network.
Assists in budgeting for computer hardware and related equipment.
Assists in maintaining secure access to computer files.
Monitors file use to ensure appropriate personnel are accessing information and that information is appropriate to carry out their job responsibilities.
Provides and, changes when necessary, employee passwords. Maintains employee information.
Maintains confidentiality of all computer files.
Operates and monitors file backup systems.
Restores files as needed.
Assists in IT response efforts to unplanned outages and security issues.
Provides timely reports about the facility's network including upgrades, problems and solutions.
Assists in the development and/or updating of policies and procedures governing information technology systems of the facility.
May install, update and maintain data information systems.
Maintains a good working relationship with outside consultants and vendors.
Evaluates vendor's proposals and technology to secure needed services, hardware/software.
Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
Consistently demonstrates a professional, self-directed approach to department responsibilities.
Stays updated on current and emerging technologies through continuing education, professional societies and journals, seminars/conferences.

High school graduate or equivalent.
B.S. in Computer Science or related subject, or experience preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in data processing.
Basic networking knowledge preferred.
In-depth knowledge of spreadsheet, database and word processing preferred.
Programming and development experience preferred.
Hospital or medical information systems experience preferred.
