Performs duties responsible for ensuring that all distribution center functions are completed accurately and timely. Provides record keeping of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Responsible for fulfilling customer orders and delivering them to the delivery platform in a manner that meets Geisinger standards for safety, security and productivity. Responsible for the completeness and correctness of all orders filled. Checks outbound shipments for accuracy and readiness of customer delivery.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Works under the direction of the Supervisor, Distribution Center.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates a working knowledge of purchase orders, inventory processes, medical supplies and the operation of computer systems. Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software programs.
Familiarity with handheld computers, voice pick equipment, material handling equipment (i.e.: hand trucks, fork lift, reach trucks, cherry pickers), stretch wrap machines, safety knives, safety harnesses, printers, computers and tablets.
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum one-year distribution/warehousing experience preferred.
Lawson (INFOR) Software or Tecsys experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a warehouse environment.
Requires the ability to lift up to 70lbs. Lifting to waist level and above is required. Requires pushing and pulling of carts with weights ranging from 100lbs to 500lbs combined.
Requires lifting of equipment up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent stooping, reaching, bending, handling, talking, depth perception, and acuity in the daily performance of duties.
