Provides technical assistance to the physician during cardiac catheterization and other related procedures. Responsible for direct patient care during procedure and manages hemostatsis post procedure.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction.
Works under supervision of a physician in clinical matters and under the supervision of the Operations Manager, Invasive Cardiac Labs for non-clinical matters.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
EPIC KNOWLEDGE-EPIC Knowledge- Electronic medical record software
HIPAA-Knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
PATIENT SAFETY-Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
HEALTHCARE KNOWLEDGE-Knowledge of the operating principles, major issues, governmental regulations, and code of ethics for the healthcare industry; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to healthcare related situations.
VASCULAR ACCESS DEVICES-Demonstrates knowledge of concepts and principles of vascular access devices.
CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS-Customer service skills is a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction, that is, the feeling that a product or service has met the customer expectation.
HEALTH INFORMATION DOCUMENTATION-Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods; ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or electronic form.
TEAM PLAYER-Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS-Demonstrates oral, written, and electronic communication skills
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program and RCIS exam eligible required.
Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, electrophysiology, and chemistry required.
Completion of the credentialing process within 6 months of hire.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of science or medicine preferred.
BLS required. ACLS, and PALS certification as directed by the department.
