Vice President of Human Resources Care Synergy is a Colorado not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation under 501(c)(3) of the Code under Section 509(a)(3) based on the authority concerning a parent entity that provides management services as a supporting organization to one or more supported organizations. Care Synergy is a mission driven, values based not-for-profit organization made up of preeminent not-for-profit hospice and palliative care organizations serving those in need along the Front Range. Care Synergy’s organizing principles include; sustainability, strategic positioning, growth, maximizing quality care and patient/family outcomes, maximizing economies and efficiencies, as well as improving financial performance. On a stand-alone basis, Care Synergy provides mission support and operating activities, which principally include; Finance and Accounting, Information Technology and Systems, Quality and Compliance, Human Resources, Risk Management, Contracting and Credentialing, Group Purchasing and other mission support services. Care Synergy operates as a parent holding company, providing governance, management and mission support services, strategic and operational oversight for its Affiliate organizations. Care Synergy Affiliates include: Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, Pathways, Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care and The Denver Hospice – all Colorado not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) corporations. The Care Synergy enterprise consists of five (5) companies, generating $100MM in revenue annually, serving more than 1100 Hospice patients per day, more than 1000 home health patients per day, and more than 1,000 Palliative Care clients with an employee base of approximately 850 staff. Location: Denver, CO Status: Full-Time Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. Hourly Pay Range: $96 New hires are placed into a salary grade based on education, experience and equity within a position. POSITION SUMMARY The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures and best practices. The position also supervises and provides consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, i.e. compensation, benefits, recruitment and retention, diversity/equity and inclusion training and development, budget, and labor relations. The Vice President of Human resources will assure that the Human Resources Department is run in a professional manner and with positive impact, and will assist in improving operational variables, meeting all relevant agency, accreditation, state, and federal regulatory, statutory or other requirements. The Vice President of Human Resources will maintain effective communication with all departments and colleagues within the organization and its Affiliates, as well with appropriate business associates, vendors and industry personnel. The Vice President of Human Resources will utilize strong planning, problem solving and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to lead special projects and strategic initiatives to fruition in collaboration with Care Synergy Executives and Affiliate Presidents and their organizations. KEY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the President and CEO. Works in collaboration with all Management staff, Affiliate Presidents and the Boards of Directors. KEY QUALIFICATIONS Mission Driven - Alignment with Care Synergy and each Affiliate’s mission, vision, values, service philosophy and standards. Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Healthcare or related field. Minimum Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible human resources experience in leadership, management and supervision, in a healthcare setting. At least Five (5) years in a senior or most senior HR leadership role. Preferred Education/Experience: Master’s Degree preferred in Business Administration, Health Administration or other Healthcare related degree. In-depth and comprehensive Human Resources knowledge in areas related to hospice, palliative care and home health care. SHRM-SCP accreditation preferred. Position Responsibilities Responsible for Human Resources oversight and guidance in support of personnel management functions: hiring, performance analysis, performance improvement, organizational development, diversity/equity and inclusion, employee terminations, and legally required regulations. Develops and/or updates Employee Handbook, policies and procedures for Human Resources, Equal Opportunity. Ensures appropriate training of supervisors, employees and/or volunteers. Assures consistency and accuracy of information relayed to supervisors and employees concerning Human Resources policies & procedures. Leads management of Human Resources related functions to ensure a safe working environment. Responsible for evaluation, recommendation and implementation of a compensation plan which outlines strategies for maintaining internal equity while being a competitive employer in the marketplace. Leads evaluation of total compensation as needed. Evaluates, assesses, and monitors benefits changes and/or additions to ensure value for employees and the organization. Oversees the administration of all employee benefits. Plan Administrator for the 403(b), 457(b) and 457(f) Care Synergy retirement plans; assists the Finance Department in overseeing the plan administration process. Accountable for compliance with current employment laws and regulations. Interfaces with legal consultants. Leads the commitment to, and the development of, successful recruitment and retention strategies that builds and fosters excellence. Acts as an agency resource on personnel issues. Accountable for the effective and accurate operation of the Human Resource functions within the Human Resources Information System.
