Sr Application Developer - Office of Sponsored Programs
Design, test, modify and support computer-based data information systems in response to user requests. Provide technical guidance on complex project requests and issues. Schedule work to meet project deadlines. Perform supervisory duties as necessary.
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) assists all members of the Medical Center community with the submission of grant proposals for external support of research, creative, instructional, and service activities.
Position Shift: Monday - Friday; daytime/business hours

Required Skills and Experiences:
Expert knowledge of Oracle Tables; Views; Materialized Views; Procedures; Functions
Expert knowledge of SQL coding, database management and database optimization
Working knowledge of Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) environments on Linux, Apache, Tomcat.
Project Management experience
Ability to work in small loosely structured/ad-hoc teams
Ability to work at all levels of the Development Life-Cycle -Design, Planning, Testing, Implementing, Documenting and Problem Resolution.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Plan, design, and modify complex computer-based information systems
Design, test maintain and modify computer-based information systems. Troubleshoot and provide guidance on issues encountered.
Evaluate and recommend best data processing policies, methods, and procedures necessary for data accuracy
Update systems data and prepare conversion requirements when needed for new development and/or modifications
Provide accurate reporting for Senior Management, Departments, and External reporting as required
Conduct needs analysis for the development of new systems and the modification of existing systems
Act independently in conferring with user management to select and implement new systems and make modifications to existing systems, setting priorities when appropriate
Perform computer studies, such as feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and statistical analysis
Serve as project leader to ensure project objectives in system development, maintenance, and modification.
Plan work for lower level analysts and programmers to meet project guidelines
Instruct in methods and procedures using effective teaching techniques
Develop appropriate documentation
Compile documentation for design changes or creation criteria
Modify existing documentation when changes are implemented
Actively identify and participate in training, education and development activities to improve own knowledge and performance to sustain and enhance professional development.
Keep up-to-date on software systems, operation procedures, and technological developments in systems and programming;
Serve as technical resource to users and others in the department
Provide training and act as internal technical consultant as needed
Assist with Application project development
Test Application changes ensuring proper updating of the database
May require availability for call after normal working hours.
