The Unified Communication Engineer provides technical support and assistance with the installation, maintenance and configuration of telecommunications and collaboration technologies and solutions. This includes collaboration, telephony, voice mail, video, video recording, audio recording, audio conferencing, contact center and customer contact management technologies and systems and healthcare specific communication technologies. The Unified Communication Engineer is responsible for identifying ways Unified Communications technologies and solutions can be leveraged to improve customer experiences and assist with the delivery of patient care.
Provides design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of technologies, software and solutions following established procedures and change control standards. Performs post-installation verification.
Assists with infrastructure system maintenance, upgrades and migrations for assigned technologies and performs post installation verification as requested.
Diagnoses and manages resolution of technical and operational problems for assigned technologies. Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems. When encountering complex system problems, escalates issues and problems to other team members and external vendors as necessary, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution and appropriate visibility.
Assists in monitoring and managing the health of solutions and services by utilizing available tools.
Serves on a team on-call rotation schedule to address emergency production issues.
Maintains system documentation and contributes to the departmental documentation repository.
Maintains up-to-date awareness of industry developments and best practices in area of specialization. Assists with research and development of new products or services
Associate degree or equivalent with focus in VoIP/Contact Center Engineering or equivalent combination of education/work experience
3 - 5 years of relevant technical experience
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing with sensitivity to the audience and content of discussion.
Strong knowledge and understanding of tools used to integrate infrastructure technologies with applications
Strong knowledge and understanding of Unified Communications technologies such as VoIP, contact center, video, conferencing, voice mail and analog services.
