The Sr Desktop Engineer is primarily responsible for building the desktop standards, providing maintenance, support and enhancements for all devices in the environment. The responsibilities include defining the base workstation standards, workstation deployment methods, deploying applications, creating and maintaining production images and anti-virus management. Primary focus will be on the desktop / laptop devices with a Mac Operating System.
Provides technical expertise to evaluate, install and maintain both hardware and software solutions to accurately meet the needs of our customers on a timely basis.
Advises in the development of the desktop strategy. Leads activities to evaluate new technology developments and applications.
Develops and communicates the base desktop standards and desktop workstation deployment methods.
Helps create system-wide workstation, networking and integration standards, policies and procedures.
Performs tasks associated with evaluation, design, installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, documentation, and expansion for desktop, laptop, management, and operating technologies.
Coach and mentor staff regarding technology, methodologies and standards. Proactively share knowledge and collaborate with IT teams to ensure quick and effective responses to customer needs.
Maintains professional knowledge of current trends and developments in the information technology and healthcare field.
Leads efforts across IT to develop policies and procedures related to the implementation and support of the desktop environment.
Ability to participate in on-call rotation off scheduled hours (e.g. 24/7 a week at a time), as needed.
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of related work and education experience.
5-7 years of technology experience
5+ years of experience with Desktop Engineering
5+ years of experience in analyzing operations, coordinating planning/design/testing enterprise-wide solutions that advance business value and facilitate high-availability, security, and control of end-points
Ability to take call, as needed.
Proven technical project leadership with large-scale desktop migration
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
Additional Requirements (must be obtained or completed within a period of time):
Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) required to obtain within 6 months time of hire, if not currently held.
