This position is responsible for the accurate, complete and timely preparation of federal, state and local tax returns and information returns, including Forms 1120, 990, 1065, 941, and 5500 tax returns. The Senior Tax Accountant will interact with several groups throughout the organization both within and outside of Finance as well as regulatory agencies. This position also assists the Tax Director in system-wide tax planning, research and compliance.
Prepares and/or provides a detailed review Federal, State, and Local Income Tax Returns
Ensures compliance with periodic tax payments
Monitors Tax Filing Deadlines and filing appropriate extensions as necessary
Reviews, analyzes, and assists with responses to Tax Notices.
Assists Tax Director on Tax Audits and System-wide tax planning
Works cross-functionally with system entities and other departments to standardize tax reporting issues and collaborate on improved work flow processes
Conducts research on various tax issues
Must keep up on a regular basis with changes in tax laws, rulings, cases and other tax guidance.
Ability to work with tax, legal, information systems, accounting, benefits and payroll departments
Provides back-up when needed to other areas of the Tax department
Broad Tax Knowledge with specialization/technical competence in at least one area and strong knowledge in at least one other area (ex: Payroll Tax, Indirect Tax, Income Tax, State and Local, Tax-Exempt)
