PURPOSE

SUMMARY

The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will lead ACHE in realizing its core value of championing diversity and fostering inclusion to advance equity in the field’s healthcare workplaces and communities served.  He/she will serve in a leadership capacity to identify and implement plans that advance diverse healthcare executives and foster diversity and inclusion efforts in the field.  The incumbent will also identify new opportunities that support ACHE’s strategic direction and diversity and inclusion as a core value. 

JOB FUNCTIONS

Diversity and Inclusion Activities                                         75% of the time

1. Contribute to the development process and implementation planning of an organization-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion plan that supports ACHE’s strategic plan and aligns with organizational operational goals and metrics. Organize corresponding action plans with tactics, metrics, measures, and timeline, collaborating with other ACHE departments, e.g., Professional Development.
2. Serve as an internal advisor to ACHE staff who manage the delivery of new and existing diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Identify opportunities to incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion into ACHE delivered learning programs. Partner with professional development staff to assist in the coordination, design, development, and delivery of diversity, equity, and inclusion topics to advance ACHE’s diversity goals.
3. Review potential educational offerings for relevancy and presenter expertise. Contribute to the collection of resources that enable healthcare leaders to effectively lead diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within their organizations and communities.
4. Participate in the planning, budgeting, and forecasting of all diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
5. Coordinate the application efforts to implement the Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Programs, through managing the application process; collaborating with Professional Development to determine relevant learning objectives, content, and faculty, for execution.
6. Develop, implement, and maintain metrics to track the organizational progress of diversity, equity, and inclusion-related initiatives (including increasing diverse membership, reduce diverse membership attrition and increase diverse candidate FACHE advancement) and report results on a regular basis, and to different internal and external audiences.
7. Serve as diversity, equity, and inclusion subject matter expert for members in answering questions, problem solving and providing general support as necessary.
8. Represent ACHE in interactions with external diversity-related organizations. Create and foster mutually beneficial partnerships that result in services and solutions for ACHE members and customers. 
9. Collaborate with others to coordinate and/or participate in other scholarship programs directed at diverse populations.
10. Special Project Activities 20% of Time
11. Participates in, provides coordination and support for a wide variety of special projects and work groups.
12. Coordinates operation of the Diversity and Inclusion offerings at the Congress on Healthcare Leadership and trains member volunteers on fundamentals of speaker sessions and booth/informational sessions.

• Supervisory Activities 5% of Time

1. Schedules, directs, and accepts responsibility for the work of one or more employees as well as contractors and adjunct faculty for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion related programs.
2. Initiates or recommends personnel actions affecting these employees.

• Master’s degree in sociology, psychology, human resources or related field required. Certification in diversity and inclusion fundamentals is a definite plus.
• FACHE preferred or Fellow eligible required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a diversity, equity and inclusion related role. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years in a diversity and inclusion leadership role, preferably in an association or healthcare organization.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have good time management and organizational skills.
• Must have advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with membership database programs (preferably NetForum) a definite plus.

• Ability to respond quickly to situations influencing decision making.
• Ability to travel.
