Responsible for installation and ongoing maintenance of network equipment and the systems required to manage and maintain the organization's network infrastructure. Assist the NIO Team Lead in developing and refining policies, procedures and documentation for staff. Directs, leads work and mentors junior staff.
Configures, upgrades, repairs and performs maintenance on network, IP telephony, and ancillary equipment and systems supporting the network.
Utilizes standard procedures and methods to complete projects and work orders as assigned.
Determine equipment and material requirements; Order and track.
Performs network device and system upgrades and patches.
Participates in Change Advisory Board meetings as required for their maintenance activities.
Participates in larger Tier 3 upgrades and updates.
Verifies normal service after all scheduled repairs or upgrades.
Responds and take ownership of network incidents and tickets as assigned.
Troubleshoot and diagnose errors in equipment.
Utilize network management tools, procedures and methods to repair network equipment and systems.

The candidate will be part of the Network Operations Triage team, our 'front-line' responders for Network & Voice incidents; the paramedics of the I.T. Networking world, if you will. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills as well as being an excellent troubleshooter, drawing on their skills & experience to quickly get to the root of the problem. Working knowledge and/or experience of the network in terms of: - Wired IEEE networking standards: 802.3/Ethernet, 802.1x/Authentication, 802.1d/w spanning-tree, rapid spanning-tree (RSTP), per-vlan rapid spanning-tree (PVST+), 802.1q trunking. - Wireless IEEE networking standards: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, EAP/EAPOL/802.1x, 802.11h 802.11r,802.11k. Radio Frequency knowledge in the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz spectrum. - Solid understanding of network systems architecture, OSI model, QoS, and TCP/IP and IP based protocols, including IDS/IPS, firewall, EIGRP. OSPF, MP-BGP, MPLS, VPN, VRF. - SNMP and its application in network monitoring systems. - Tacacs and Radius authentication administration
- Solid understanding of VoIP signaling and media protocols (including SIP, H323, MGCP, and RTP), media gateways, session border controllers, Dial Plan architecture and standards.
- Knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications applications and technologies
- Computer systems architecture, operating systems, and network hardware/software. - Good network workstation/server troubleshooting skills. - Good understanding of Linux/UNIX and Windows 7/10/Windows Server 2012/2016 based systems. Familiarity with Linux/UNIX preferred. - Basic understanding of IPv6 and how it differs from IPv4. - Experience with traffic shaping devices and bandwidth management. - Packet capture and analysis with Wireshark, TCP dump, or similar tools. - Log analysis.
Responsibilities also include:
Configuring routers, firewalls and software-defined networks (SD-WAN); performing data analytics on network performance data; and handling unusual/difficult troubleshooting activities.
