Serve as IT lead, technical support, and customer service for APHA Press and American Journal of Public Health websites. Update and maintain monthly content and troubleshoot American Journal of Public Health (AJPH) and (Control of Communicable Diseases Manual CCDM) and Standard Methods for Examination of Water and Wastewater (SMWW) websites. Manage digital book and journal publishing efforts to include development of eproducts and epub. Perform quality control checks on the content to ensure accuracy and ensure proper upload and display across platforms and devices. Work with editors and authors to identify articles of interest to the public health community and produce digital media content and presentations that include blogs, podcasts, and videocasts; updating social network media; and updating community pages. Produce digital media content and presentations to include blogs, podcasts, and videocasts. Incorporate media into various content channels, including web pages, XML, and webinar products. Update social network media pages, including Facebook and Twitter, responding to comments in a timely fashion as needed. Work with the journal Editors, the Journal Production Coordinator, and APHA Press to post blog updates and generate content for distribution. Create and maintain AJPH Content Collection pages. Recommend and develop digital products to accompany book and journal products, implementing new digital technologies as needed (Dropbox for preproduction/author sharing, Atypon epub reader). Develop and maintain discussion pages on the Journal and eproducts website. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in related field. Three to five years of experience understanding of web technologies and workflows including HTML, CSS, XML/XLST, including web accessibility issues and best practices. Experience on the Atypon platform is a must. Developing web content and incorporating digital technologies into products, preferably in traditional scholarly publishing environment. Commuter Skills required: of Microsoft Office suites, Adobe InDesign, (or related program), Garage Band (or related program), and Oxygen XML Editor (or related product). Experience developing content for display on multiple platforms (e.g., website, tablets, mobile devices) preferred. Knowledge of Mac and PC computers preferred. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, knowledge of standard office procedures, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to proofread and copyedit, ability to work independently, ability to deal tactfully and professionally with members, authors, editors, and customers. Must be able to travel occasionally (required).

Hours: 35 hours a week, full-time, Mon- Fri. (daytime). Number of openings: 1.
