Position overview:
The Service Line Manager position is a key role within the DUHS Behavioral Health service line. Serving as the main point of contact for outpatient Behavioral Health services. The position is directly responsible for the Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic and ECT clinic at Duke Regional Hospital. As well as collaborates closely with Health System partners on Behavioral Health Initiatives.
Position Summary
This position will provide overall management direction and coordination for the operational and financial management of a Duke University Health System Psychiatry/Behavioral Health Administration. May be responsible for financial management, human resources management, operations improvement, and participating in setting strategic direction and new business development.
Work Performed
In this role, the position will have responsibility for a service line programs initiative across the health system including quality/outcome measures, budgeting and growth.
- Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams, as needed, to ensure continuous compliance with federal, state, and national regulatory agencies
- Provide strategical/tactical direction to all clinical operations and reporting functions across the health system
- Develop and lead strategic initiatives processes and business development of new service offerings to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiencies
- Cultivate and maintain external relationships with third-party suppliers and partners; negotiate favorable and sustainable agreements with key vendors and suppliers including all contract and vendor relationships, contract negotiations
- Support development efforts with innovative input and resources to ensure project milestones are achieved on target
- Develop capacity planning strategy/model leveraging existing resources and models for improved prediction of resource needs
- Collaborate with major functional areas to identify and evaluate fundamental issues on projects, interpret data, make good business decisions, and ensure the implementation of timely solutions.
- Responsible for development of annual budgets and forecasting - Ensure all expenditures are managed in accordance with agreed budgets and forecasts by closely monitoring each clinical program and proactively addressing issues
- Manage billing, coding, and denials of practice, including interactions with payers - Establish, identify, and ensure systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care
- Review department performance in relation to established goals, implement change(s) to effect continual improvement in services provided as applicable
- Responsible for overall quality provided by established services and for following the highest standards
- Administer, coordinate, and resolve problems concerning operations of clinical services for all patients; Provide direction to staff in carrying out responsibilities
- Interpret and ensure compliance with laws, corporate policies, operational procedures, and objectives; reviews program operations for effectiveness
- Responsible for efficiency of operations while maintaining quality service
- Facilitate process to improve systems for timely and accurate information on customers, products, treatment patterns, prices, and quality. Accountable for the utilization of fiscal resources within budgetary parameters.
- Work on a variety of operational improvement projects
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires a Bachelor's Degree in biology, physiology, psychology or related scientific field.
Experience
5 years of administrative experience related to Healthcare; preferred experience in quality/operational improvement.
