Job Summary
Responsible to provide quality academic support services to medical students, as well as accessibility support services to medical school and graduate students. These services will be provided in conjunction with the Associate Director of the Center for Learning Excellence and Accessibility Committee.
Job Duties
- Monitoring the pre-matriculation process and reaching out to all students who inquire about services for specific learning needs.
- Engaging in an interactive process with students seeking accommodations, assisting them in completing the application for services, and coordinating the documentation they submit to support their application.
- Reviewing documentation of disability, including psychological, medical, academic, and educational assessments, and establishing reasonable accommodations for students in conjunction with the Associate Director of the CLE.
- Preparing letters for student notification regarding the outcome of their application for accommodations.
- Meeting with those students receiving accommodations, continuing to engage them in an interactive process to reassess needs/barriers, and outlining their program of accommodations.
- Coordinating services and assistive technology necessary for reasonable accommodations.
- Acting as a liaison, advocate, and resource person for students with disabilities.
- Notifying the Curriculum Department of student accommodation status and continuing the interactive process with that department as needed.
- Assisting medical students with their application for NBME accommodations services as needed.
- Developing and implementing program orientations and other transition and success activities for students with disabilities.
- Developing and maintaining a database system for monitoring and reporting on the number of students with disabilities, their needs, and effectiveness of service delivery for program improvement purposes.
- Overseeing and developing and maintenance of Accessibility Services Share Point page.
- Serve as an academic advisor providing learning and personal support services to MD students to include time management, organizational support, and Step preparation planning.
- Develop and coordinate accessibility support workshop
- Participates in reviews universal design and assistive technology initiatives
- Implement the tutorial program to include recruiting, training, and supervising a team of peer tutors and overseeing weekly tutorial activities. Supervises peer tutors Oversee the tutorial payroll and manage the tutor budget
- Maintain accurate records of student contacts, referrals, and outcomes.
