Job Summary
The role of the Regional Communications Strategist is to be aligned with a specific geography as the key communications lead who is responsible for providing strategic and operational support for both internal and external communications for his/her respective region, ensuring all plans (institute, functional, corporate, etc.) are organized around regional priorities that ladder up to system initiatives
Job Duties
- Plans, researches, and performs analysis to develop a comprehensive communications strategy for regional clients.
- Manages local media outlet relationships for optimal earned media and serves as liaison for communications colleagues to local outlets.
- Writes, edits, and distributes content designed to increase awareness and understanding among internal and external audiences on a variety of regional and organizational priorities and initiatives.
- Leads regional communications for system master facilities plan in partnership with system public affairs and marketing teams.
- Partners with community engagement team to manage local community stakeholder relationships, localize system strategies and make recommendations on behalf of region.
- Co-develops events, activities and promotional tactics designed to increase visibility in the local community and among employees.
- Uses analytical and critical thinking to interpret data to understand and respond to industry and market trends as they relate to regional clients.
- In partnership with clients, develops proactive strategies, plans, and initiatives to achieve regional and Geisinger's priorities and objectives.
- Understands the business objectives of the organization at the enterprise, business unit, departmental, institute, and regional level and applies that understanding to strategy development.
- Working in a matrixed environment, leads a team of cross-functional marketing, communications, and digital engagement experts to co-create tactical plans and successfully deploy and evaluate them. Uses department resources efficiently.
- Keeps abreast of the external and internal environmental trends that could impact the strategy such as regional competitive environment, clinical advances, technological enhancements, employment trends, and industry trends.
- Monitors for issues that may negatively affect Geisinger's brand or operations.
- Partners with dedicated project managers to implement plans and monitor progress.
- Tracks and reports process and outcome metrics for assigned projects and plans. Metrics might include number of media hits, ad equivalency, event attendees, employee engagement data, earned media share of voice, web traffic, social media engagement, open rates and click through rates on internal emails and number of views on internal web pages.
- Establishes themselves as a trusted advisor to clients and manages client expectations through transparent and frequent communications and collaboration.
- Presents recommendations, plans, status reports and metrics to clients and leadership.

Position Details
Preferred Competencies/Skill Sets:
- Demonstrates proven level of expertise in core competencies of marketing and communications tasks and activities, excellent written and communication skills, strong computer skills, strategic planning, creative thinking, critical thinking, organizational skills, excellent time management/project management skills, publication design, social media/digital expertise, event/planning coordination skills.
- Experience with SharePoint, Workfront, Google Analytics, Microsoft Suite/Teams, other tracking platforms, AP Style, and client relationship skills would be a plus for this role.
Education
Bachelor's Degree- (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Marketing/Public Relations (Preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 5 years-Related work experience (Required)
