Medical Transcriptionist-Path Support Representative Scribe

JOB SUMMARY: A Path Support Representative is needed to join a dynamic team of clinical laboratory staff professionals. The ideal Path Support representative will be customer service oriented with a background of transcription experience, medical terminology, high typing speed with accuracy, and ability to multi-task and problem solve. Administrative experience would be helpful.
Position works closely with another administrative position and other laboratory staff to ensure prompt turnaround of in-house cases, as well as consult cases from outside hospitals. Work includes accessioning, transcription of reports using Express Scribe , customer support, mailing of reports and materials, faxing, and filing along with some non-clinical support. The primary focus of the position supports patient care.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the caseload. The two support positions, work staggered schedules to provide coverage for early cases and faxing of reports in the afternoon. Coverage can span from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Schedule may include overtime

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Transcribes diagnostic reports using Express Scribe * Receives and triages internal and external specimens. Handles add on orders, requests for additional materials and monitors TAT as required. * Handles special requests for reference lab testing and tracks the entire process including the request to outside facilities for materials through to the receipt of the results. * Prepares materials for shipping to outside facilities and reference labs. * File case folders and retrieve folders. Participates in managing archived case folders. * Provides clerical support including assisting with the preparation of clinical reports and customer support activities. * Participates in quality control and process improvement activities. * Supports laboratory and demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in in handling daily workflow and problems. * The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and 3 years of relevant experience Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR): Transcription experience required. ExpressScribe knowledge preferred.
