JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking the ideal team player who embodies the values of excellence, integrity, humility, diversity, and will contribute to our efforts to cultivate an inclusive and positive work environment. This individual must be detail-oriented, accountable, and maintain a high degree of personal responsibilty and reliability to team members and established deadlines. The Budget Account Analyst coordinates, monitors, analyzes, and assists in the preparation of departmental payroll; reconciles and reports financial and accounting data; assists with annual budget preparation; conducts complex financial and budget analysis to assess and enhance financial and related operational methods and activities; prepares financial and cost accounting reports. Preference will be given to applicants with prior Workday enterprise resource planning experience.
Located in Nashville, TN, VUMC is the only adult and pediatric Level I trauma center in Middle Tennessee. VUMC's combined emergency departments see approximately 130,000 patients annually. Department of Emergency Medicine physicians currently provide emergency services at Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital, Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital, Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital, Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital, and the Emergency Department of the Nashville Veterans Administration Medical Center. This role is located on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center campus. A flexible hybrid work model is available to support a blend of in-office and remote activities. Initial orientation period will be onsite. Hybrid schedule to be determined and approved by employee, hiring manager and Chief Business Officer.

Analyze and prepare budgetary data for department budget, including rate projections and personnel salary/wage data using applicable Financial Management budget guidelines.
Lead resource accountable to design and implement tools that assist with accurate entry of department payroll and program funding, maintaining confidentiality of data
Research, analyze, prepare, and reconcile data for department budget; identify and research monthly variances; create unique and often complex reports; make projections and recommendations; develop cost comparisons with previous budgets using applicable using generally accepted accounting principles
Design, develop, and implement financial reporting systems, including financial forecasting; prepare regular and special accounting and financial reports for department needs using a broad knowledge of Vanderbilt systems, accounting practices and organizational business units, and using problem solving skills.
Perform internal auditing function for department; recommend procedural changes; review data periodically to analyze trends affecting budget/accounting needs.
Maintain regular communication with intra-departmental administrative teams to promote consistency in accounting practices and workflow
Advise supervisor regarding budgetary matters; resolve routine budget issues concerning personnel, utilization of facilities, equipment, and funds; supervise clerical staff as required.

Create and maintain systems for inventory control of equipment; monitor the purchase of material, services, equipment, and utilization of facilities and personnel.
Complete assigned tasks accurately and timely
Review the preparation of contracts; write and update internal procedures and controls for outside vendor contracts; supervise support staff in this function.
Obtain a broad understanding of Vanderbilt's overall contracting procedures
Serve as liaison with other departments to provide budget and cost accounting information.
Promote consistency in accounting standards and reporting
