Senior Accounting Clerk, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center at VUMC
Role Summary: Performs accounting, purchasing, and clerical functions for a large federal grant, monitoring spending, and selecting and applying guidelines and policy, with minimal guidance. Verifies accuracy and records business transactions and updates general ledger, accounts, and databases.
Work Schedule: 3 days per week remote and 2 days per week on-site (space for more days on-site is available if needed); Monday - Friday: normal daytime business hours
Prepares journal entries, check requests, purchase orders, and adjustment documents. Traces transactions and reconciles accounts.
Utilizes Excel, general ledger, and financial reporting to track and monitor central office spending as well as spending and payments to sub-award partners.
Works with fiscal director and budget analyst to develop new and/or modify existing procedures to improve fiscal processes.
Identifies and corrects errors in documents where discrepancies require corrections; works with sub-award partners when invoices and back-up documents require corrections.
Prepares general financial reports and data.
May handle cash and payment transactions.

Clinical and research program strengths include HIV medicine, mycobacterial infections, and infectious diseases in transplantation recipients. Epidemiology and patient oriented research initiatives are flourishing in drug and vaccine development (for HIV, tuberculosis, and other pathogens), hospital epidemiology, and emerging/re-emerging infections. The Division also is deeply committed to excellence in teaching of medical students, residents, our colleagues in practice and ID fellows.
