Position Summary: Responsible for implementing and expanding goals in three areas of the Health Literacy Strategic Plan: Training, Documents and Development. Responsible for oversight of all aspects of the process for how patient-facing documents, videos and websites are created, reviewed and edited for readability, archived and accessed and assessment of competency of those conducting document review. Develop and conduct health literacy training and education including teach back for staff and leadership Provide consultation to the organization, units and individual leaders on unit-specific and organization-wide strategies, decisions and processes in order to strengthen efforts towards ensuring that UNMH is a health literate organization. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities: * MANAGE - Manage and implement large scope, highly complex projects with organization-wide visibility and impact * TRAINING - Plan, organize, administer, conduct and evaluate training and educational programs for employees; formulate organization-wide educational and training policies and practices * ASSESSMENT - Assess, monitor, and document competency of those conducting review of documents for readability and health literacy concepts * CONSULTANT - Act as a consultant, coach and/or facilitator to hospital managers and departments in team development, strategic planning, system development, performance improvement, and training program development * ANALYZE - Conduct readability analysis, editing, and consultation on individual patient documents * REPORTS - Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to program operations as well as other special reports as necessary * RECORDS - Maintain reports and records; collect statistical data for administrative and/or quality improvement purposes * DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops * ADVOCACY - Advocate for removing barriers to understanding health care information for patients of all skill levels and ensuring equal access to health care * COMMITTEES - Attend meetings and represent department or hospital within related hospital committees or the community

Experience: Essential: 5 years directly related experience
Nonessential: Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
