SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: The UI/UX Engineer/Designer evaluates and designs visuals and interaction flows for software platforms and provides support to application software development. The ideal candidate will have experience researching, prototyping, and implementing designs for a variety of digital products and tools. The UI/UX Engineer will work collaboratively with clients and developers to create an excellent product that intuitively meets the needs of the end-user.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Proven experience as a UX designer or other similar role
Strong portfolio of UX design projects that demonstrate problem-solving aptitude
Familiarity with interaction design, information architecture, responsive design, and cross-platform design strategies
Proficient in design software (Creative Cloud, InVision, Figma, Sketch, etc.)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Bachelor's degree in UX, Design, Computer Science, or other related field or equivalent professional experience
Familiarity working within an Agile environment preferred
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Angular, or React preferred but not required
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct concept and usability testing
Create personas through user research and data gathering
Define and evaluate successful interaction models
Develop wireframes and prototypes
Adhere and contribute to style guides and other branding guidelines
Solve problems creatively and collaboratively
Communicate design ideas to developers and clients
Keep up-to-date on latest design tools, software, and trends
Evaluate and test software usability
Requirements Gathering
Prepare detailed user stories and activity diagrams to illustrate the customer needs. Collaborate with customers to obtain and analyze project specifications. Propose a viable overall design approach by analyzing the possible courses of action and associated impacts.
Support
Ensure outstanding end-user support is provided, including ongoing monitoring of Service Level Agreements for incident management and collaboration with other areas to ensure customer-centered incident management and support.
Education
Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross-training, literature and attendance at department meetings and vendor education. Develop training objectives. Prepare oral and written presentations. Develop expertise in several Cincinnati Children's computer-based systems.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:- Bachelor's degree in a related field OR unrelated bachelor's degree with a UI/UX bootcamp
- 2-4 years of work experience in a related job discipline
