The role you’ll contribute:
This position, under the supervision of the Director of Public Policy, is responsible for supporting and implementing advocacy and public policy efforts for AdventHealth. This role understands and articulates key public policy issues, using data and policy research to support findings. The role also helps provide critical support to AdventHealth’s initiatives related to federal and state health care issues. This includes monitoring, tracking and researching health care policy issues, as well as providing analysis and writing support. Excellent research, analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Exceptional attention to detail and knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential for this role.

Data Analysis
Creates data visualization to clearly communicate insights and findings to a variety of stakeholders (e.g. AdventHealth executives, community benefit managers and policy makers).
Works with large data sets to identify trends and answer specific questions.
Creates data findings/insight reports for a variety of stakeholders, explaining findings in layman terms.
Independently seeks out additional information, externally and internally, to round out analyses and inform policy development.
Conducts research and data analysis to support the development of evidence-based policy positions.
Develops standard processes for ongoing projects that require data analytics support.
Supports the Manager in data-related aspects of managing the Policy Brief, including performance and trend reporting.
Research and Monitoring
Proactively tracks, monitors and analyzes federal regulatory, legislative and other policy issues informing the Public Policy Manager and Director of important developments and changes.
Performs research on a range of policy issues and synthesizes the information, tailoring it for a variety of audiences (e.g., internal health experts, legislators and community partners).
Regularly communicates progress and concerns affecting policy and regulatory issues through written and oral reports.
Manages special projects as assigned and perform issue-specific research.
Comments and Publications
Provides writing support on comments to federal agencies on behalf of AdventHealth. Coordinates relevant research and compiles feedback from a range of stakeholders.
Assists in the production of regular department publications (e.g. Policy Brief and Background Documents).
Develops and/or contribute to writing projects, such as whitepapers, briefing papers and other reports as assigned.
Prepares time-sensitive policy documents such as talking points, bill summaries and fact sheets.
Works closely with the public policy team on projects, helping to implement strategies.
Assists with the development of presentations for internal and external stakeholders when needed.
Department Planning, Activities and System Support
As requested, communicates the status and progress of policy issues to the Public Policy Manager and Director.
Consistently demonstrates initiative as well as problem-solving skills.
Actively participates in departmental meetings and activities.
Adheres to professional standards with all team members and stakeholders.
Adheres to department processes.
Engages in department’s brainstorms. This will include conducting research, sharing information, and drafting materials as requested.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Political Science, Health Care Administration or related degree is preferred.
One year of work experience is required, preferably in a related field.
Preferred qualifications:
Master of Public Policy, Public Health Administration or Communications.
Experience in government relations, public policy and health care setting is preferred.
