In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption. Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.
Job Description
Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI) has an exciting opportunity for a Scientific Research Manager (SRM) working with the Computational & Systems Biology and Developmental Biology, as well as SKI Administration. The SRM will coordinate scientific operations, including those of large NIH-funded grants, and help to develop and present the scientific projects and mission.
You will:
- Work closely with the Chairs of the Computational & Systems Biology and Developmental Biology assigned as well as the Associate Director of SKI Administration
- Take responsibility for the communication, networking, and coordination within the assigned programs, and across all of MSK research and clinical programs, as well as Dept of Research Technology Management (RTM)
- Lead grant program management within programs, including finding opportunities for peer-reviewed funding, locating suitable applicants, providing support with grant preparation and editing, producing timely submission of proposals, and ensuring timely and accurate follow-up, so as to ensure maximal external research funding
- Work with the Associate Director on institute wide projects
You have:
- The position requires a Ph.D. level scientist with broad scientific knowledge, in Life or Medical Sciences, with strong written and verbal skills. Experience in management and program building, preferred.
- Background in drug discovery and development, biochemistry, HTS, cell-based assays and animal efficacy studies
- Exposure/understanding of medicinal chemistry and/or chemical probes
- Strong creativity and ability to talk with scientists and clinicians. Strong motivation to invest in the academic and scientific success of others.
- Knowledge of Acrobat Professional Writer, Photoshop, and Illustrator desirable
