Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has created a new position as part of our exciting "Laboratory Transformation" Project. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking to hire a Manager of Quality Programs and Patient Safety, whom will have responsibility for leading the anatomic & clinical pathology quality programs, patient safety analyses and investigations, as well as, process improvements - utilizing methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma. This position leads clinical laboratory section(s) and/or laboratory support functions within the Diagnostic Laboratories of VUMC.
Additional responsibilities include providing direction for the supervisors of the individual laboratories and serving as a key resource to integrate clinical activities and optimize patient care. The Manager of Quality Programs & Patient Safety, with the lab leadership team, defines clinical performance standards and quality measures, monitors actual performance and when necessary, identifies problems and initiates corrective actions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors and coordinates programs and actions within areas of responsibility; has overall fiscal accountability for sections(s).
Develops work goals and objectives based on interpretation of organization plans and forecasts; plans to achieve goals or establish priorities through appropriate budgeting and program development.
Monitors payroll reports for overtime and FlexPTO as will as conducts performance appraisals.
Manages staff, the operating budget, and participates in capital budgeting.

Successful completion of CAHEA or NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program or BS from accredited institution with major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science and ASCP technologist generalist or categorical certification or equivalent certification; or equivalent education and experience per CLIA and TN Medical Laboratory Board (1200-06-01-.22)for personnel performing high complexity testing.
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) from accredited institution (Required)
