JOB SUMMARY
The BI Developer I is accountable for delivery of modern business intelligence, analytics, and data warehousing solutions including development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise business intelligence platforms. May specialize in BI/reporting, ETL, and/or database technologies. Works with other technical team members to deploy solutions using best practices for architecture, design, coding, and testing to help data movement/transformation, data testing, relational/multidimensional (OLAP) database objects, and data visualization. The BI Developer I assumes tasks of a moderate to low level of complexity and difficulty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Studies detailed end user specifications.
- Develop solutions to accommodate business requirements.
- Tunes and optimizes process to improve the performance and works with DBAs on optimizing query response times.
- Helps production deployments and automation and conducts troubleshooting performance issues.
- Helps other technical resources in Installs and upgrades of BI software.
- Documents unit testing results and creates manifest for the preparation of code deployments.
- Is accountable to ensure code is written to meet the coding standards and also ensure source code and versioning are maintained properly.
- Helps EBI Developer II and III to maintain inventory of all the jobs and processes, document procedures to maintain, monitor, backup and recovery operations for the environment.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Must have experience in development using ETL or BI tools.
- Must have experience in Data Warehousing, with thorough knowledge of dimensional modeling.
- Must have experience in database development, using SQL and PL/SQL, with in-depth knowledge of systematic functions.
- Experience with SDLC a must, exposure to Agile/SCRUM practices is ideal.
- Must possess excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Experience with IBM Netezza, Microsoft SQL Server, ETL tools (Netezza, Informatica) as well as enterprise BI reporting tools (IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, Microsoft SSRS, Microsoft Power BI) preferred.
- Experience in tools administration is preferred.
- Healthcare experience/processing/claims preferred.
