The Grant Preparation Coach will provide grant writing and planning expertise to Nemours investigators who are developing and preparing targeted grant submissions, especially submissions to the National Institutes of Health, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and other federal or nationally prominent granting entities. Responsibilities include coaching and educating investigators regarding best practices in the preparation of required components including research plans, data management plans, biosketches, figures, writing scope of work, and other required documents. The Grant Preparation Coach will guide investigators through Nemours grant submission processes and will provide editorial suggestions to help improve grant fundability.

The Grant Preparation Coach must possess excellent technical editing and writing skills as well as the outstanding project management and communication skills required to work closely with investigators across the Nemours Children's Health System who are seeking external and internal funding for research. The Coach will educate faculty on strategies and techniques to improve their writing including an emphasis on writing for grant reviewers and funding agency officials. The Coach will help guide faculty with methods to develop and deliver a coherent, accurate, and engaging message that will resonate with people from a wide variety of experiences, backgrounds, and cultures.

1. Assist with grant preparation and submission by working with investigators and research teams to identify and clarify opportunities and needs in responding to requests for proposal (RFPs).

2. Assist principal investigator and research team in development of proposals, grant section content, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.

3. Assist principal investigator and research team with establishing priorities, target dates, meeting proposal deadlines, writing, review, approval, and grant transmittal/submission.

4. Assist with the time management and planning of the grant submission process including writing, revising, and editing drafts, seeking feedback, and obtaining necessary components from collaborators to improve quality of submission and increase likelihood of acceptance/funding.

6. Exhibit excellent editing and writing skills, excellent communication skills, excellent organizational capabilities, strong interpersonal skills, ability to maintain and organize multiple open projects; maintain proficiency on desktop publishing, publications databases, and editorial management submission systems.

7. Educate faculty on best practices in sharing scientific discoveries and information in ways that resonate with diverse audiences at local, national, and international scientific meetings.

8. Manage multiple deadline-driven projects continuously.

9. Support Diversity and inclusion through communications

Qualifications-

Minimum of 1-year experience in grant writing, prospect research, general fundraising or a minimum of 2 years comparable and transferable skills acquired in a professional setting.

Grant-writing experience in research or health care-related field preferred.

Master's degree or bachelor's degree with equivalent experience in English, Journalism, or related field.
