POSITION SUMMARY: Designs, monitors, maintains, and updates the organization?s Charge Master(s) in order to optimize revenue generation, maintain compliance with governmental entities and agreements with third-party payers. Works with revenue producing departments to ensure the ongoing coordinated consistency of the charge master, preference lists and fee schedules, including accurate descriptions, coding, additions, deletions, pricing, and any other changes. Assesses the accuracy and build of all charging workflows in EPIC, including dictionaries, preference lists and other interface or third party charging systems. Analyzes Epic work/error que data and performs root cause analysis. Executes on work plans to correct identified deficiencies. Associated functions in related areas such as cost management, cost accounting, cost reporting, and decision support are performed as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor?s degree in related field required, Master?s degree preferred.
Overall knowledge of various coding systems used in the healthcare industry (i.e. UB Revenue Codes, CPT/HCPCS codes) and procedural terminology
Knowledge of the charge development process and the interrelationship of cost accounting, cost management, and related functions
Experience and training related to the EPIC patient management system
A general understanding of external payment systems, third-party payer regulations, compliance issues and their importance and consequences
Ability to understand government program memorandums and publications, determine necessary modifications, and implement those modifications
Requires high analytical and problem solving
Ability to participate with upper management in a decision support mode through the development of appropriate management information
Ability to work independently
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills (verbal and written)
A working knowledge of various software applications, such as charge master/hospital software applications, internet, excel, word, access, and power point.
EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years healthcare experience in billing, financial management, information systems, health information systems, and/or decision support. Direct involvement with charge master development, maintenance, oversight, monitoring, etc., preferred. EPIC experience desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work conducted in office environment with many conflicting deadlines and interruptions. Must be able to maintain composure and manage multiple priorities. Requires knowledge of general safety standards. Extensive keyboard data entry using sound ergonomic principles.
