Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity which adds value and improves an organization's operations and profitability. It helps the organization accomplish its objectives by monitoring risks and provide reasonable assurance that controls are in place to effectively mitigate those risks. Internal audit also helps the organization maintain a reasonable level of operational efficiency and effectiveness, reliability of financial data, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as safeguard assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
§Serves as Project Lead in planning, organizing, and directing work to ensure the completion of assigned projects on time and within budget.
§Assigns work program procedures and other audit tasks to auditors assisting on assigned projects.
§Performs work program procedures and other audit tasks as required.
§Identifies potential risk exposures and evaluates the effectiveness of organizational policies and procedures and internal controls designed to mitigate risks.
§Meets regularly with both Internal Audit and client management throughout projects to discuss project status and specific issues identified.
§Reviews work papers to ensure that work performed is complete, properly documented, and conclusions reached are adequately supported.
§Prepares audit reports and reviews them with both Internal Audit and client management.
§Serves as coach/mentor in training and development of auditors.
§Communicates effectively with individuals and groups at all organizational levels.
§Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking skills.
§Demonstrates proficient knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards, internal control theory, fraud indicators and investigative techniques.
§Performs other duties as requested.
