Telecom works across a broad range of communication system technologies and liaises across multiple areas of the business by providing communication with video, data, and voice solutions. This role requires personal expertise, professionalism, technical skills, and cross functional relationships to resolve client requests using standardized processes to meet success metrics and exceed client expectations. They have several responsibilities including support, provide solutions to technical issues and requests, provide advice in the planning, as well as coordination and management of projects and MOB initiatives. They may find the need to explain solutions in both technical and non-technical terms along with preparing reports and documentation.
Under minimal supervision, the MemorialCare Telecom Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of MemorialCare’s telecommunications infrastructure, NEC, Cisco Wireless. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all telephone systems and services, including voicemail and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems. The Telecom Engineer analyzes and resolves telecommunication circuit issues to meet approved standards and support requestor’s needs when required. They participate in medium to large initiatives of a technical nature and problem-solving assignments that involve a broad understanding of business, applications, and technologies. Telecom Engineer’s function as a participant on a team, or as team leader in carrying out assignments, depending on scope and complexity. They are typically involved with relatively urgent or important initiatives where problem resolution is highly valued or critical to business operations. They work with all levels of staff in and outside of the department and external parties. Telecom Engineer’s perform work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. They know and use well the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of the particular field of specialization. As well as mentor and train junior level Telecom staff.
